  1. id do a list of names but i miss a lot of people, even hoodrats and shit that give me somewhere to point my gun i miss my bullies the most and i miss everyone with decent slurs for my fat bogan arse and shit i also miss the other bogan characters i meet i think my mental health plan could work, see the suggestions board
  2. It would be a bit chaotic if someone trolls a custom job past the admins and such, and causes issues by making the custom job public. However, this could be easily fixed as an owner should be responsible for what happens there. People abusing it can lose the privilege and the custom job with that would be destroyed. I think beyond staff approving such jobs that perhaps this could be something one could buy with donator credits, keeping the staff approval. Also, the owner of the custom job should get to approve or deny anyone from joining it when they are publically listed. You would also want to streamline the demote process, to help custom job owners get rid of troublemakers. Every job already has the potential to end up with problems that require a tweak to the rule. This same effort can be applied to the approval and destruction of custom jobs that come to exist. How would RP relations work with these custom jobs? Edit: added paragraph #2
  3. I had a genius marketing idea for the server, it is really simple. People with more than three hours either play at least once every 7 days or they are banned for 30. That is all. I think the economics here explain themselves.
  4. This is clearly a case of either hypochondria, or is a histrionic manipulation. Tell me about your family history, did your mother claim to have this diagnosis? You should probably see a neurologist, because you might have late stage Huntington's disease and it has damaged your brain. You can get a simple DNA test for this, and it is hereditary. If you tell me about your family history, I will be able to go further on my differential diagnosis on what is actually wrong here.
  5. Right, I've had this idea for a while. It starts with some changes to default laws, to imply a variety of viewpoints would be seen as signs of mental illness and with the right mayor these people could be put in a mental hospital until staff are sure they will stop doing it. Things like saying it isn't just a game (derealisation), being non-verbal and socially disadvantaged, and more. I respect the rules against self-harm related things being a part of the game, but part of this kind of thing in real society can come down to a person's basic ability to care for themselves and even a fixation on the harm of others. Simply, there should be a line where certain people are unreasonable and can't communicate and at the same time end up causing themselves or others danger. Another really good example of what could be done is a way to peacefully isolate rats. They might look a bit different, but they can speak and be reasonable and choose not to infect people. This gives them a deserving second chance to learn this and avoid being isolated. Overall for anyone involved it gives them a time and place to learn to be reasonable, recover, so they can actually understand the respect the laws and such of Orbital City. And everyone really deserves a chance like that. Players can always call a sit and appeal such treatment being done to them. It would require a mental hospital on the map and a couple of jobs. A psychiatrist and some nurses are required. I think the psychiatrist should be a VIP, trusted, or donator player and it should also require that they have not had any recent FailRP warns, if possible. It would not always be available, but when it is there should be default laws for rats and giving them a chance. Mayors should be allowed to instate mandatory treatment for the derealisation issues that the game is not real, and that therefore the rules don't matter - as for such people with that unfortunate condition they cannot really be objective regarding the rules and will always be a menace to society, or be victimised and fuel crime and drug addiction. There are also a variety of impulse control issues and players that clearly can't help but break perfectly valid laws. These people too should be able to be dragged off by police to a mental institution (when it is available) for rehabilitation. The mayor could decide things here with some limits, for example misclicks that injure police (or anyone) could be because of dangerous mental health. Maybe even things like multiple recent instances of misclicks, these people have serious issues and need psychiatric care. Think, are we barbarians? If you like my idea try adding your own idea too it. The essence is that clearly, there are people with serious issues with understanding reality (such as thinking the game isn't real), impulse control, and people being against society. Voluntary patients could also be admitted, if they just wanted to learn to play the game better and actually serve a constructive role in society. Rehabilitation for criminal tendencies could also be voluntary provided if the psychiatrist comes to believe they are ill. If I were a psychiatrist I would have an assessment process to see if people are suitable. Lastly, if the psychiatrist for any reason thinks they are faking, a risk to other patients, they can just be imprisoned. I even think that a psychiatrist assessment could be a way out of admin sits to shorten punishments. For example, I wanted to be on for my birthday last year, however due to the fact in real life I need this for real, and have schizo-affective disorder a downward spiral led me to a 24 hour weapon blacklist. Admittedly, this was an act of madness, but I really knew I screwed up here and that my problems had affected others. It all started when I broke NLR to RDM a dead mayor I could not find as assassin, but after that there were some more things that were just bad luck. I'm just not wired right, and I could have made an effort to have that sorted out and maybe only had a 12 hour blacklist. Things which are largely neurological should not be considered illnesses by psychiatrists, such as motor skill issues or even speech disorders themselves. I think the game also needs a system to facilitate different psychiatrists keeping notes on patients. One should be able to see a formers work, unless that psychiatrist has been demoted or an admin has revoked their status. There could even be a designation for the criminally insane, people who are a permanent risk to others, which would make things easy for police to preemptively save more lives. My idea is not perfect, but if you can think of a problem discuss it below and I will try and fix it.
  6. The sitrooms and teleporting players can take a while, and often a lot of us would like to be back at spawn anyway. There has been folly, several times in my experience where I get sent to a previous sitroom I was in. A lot of these issues could be solved, also saving admins a lot of work typing commands. At the end of a sit an admin could trigger the opening of a door into some kind of tube, a fun slide of sorts which players flow through until they fall back into spawn. It would not be an easy change to the map but surely possible. This would make the end of a sit an easy thing for admins and make them much faster. Players should still be able to be sent back to where they were, if the admin can be bothered when the player is worthy, as is already done. Also, this idea involves tubes, and everybody loves a good tube.
  7. I rather like what has happened with the mayor, and having the computer and all that it does. However, it does make the mayor a bit of a hermit character away from the community. I actually just made a base for mayor, to be in public but also be safe. It would be good if the work could be taken with him/her so that the mayor can be out while there are lotteries, tax changes, gun licences, and all of that stuff. What I propose is that there is a mayors laptop available for server money, and I think quite a bit of it. Based on that it takes me about an hour as a max level trashman to make $100k, grinding away, the mayors laptop should be about $150,000. It should also be an item with value that can be stolen and raided for. In the case that the mayor's laptop is stolen it would be good if it provided not just an advantage for theives, but also a disincentive for police when it is in the wrong hands (no pay, perhaps?). This would give the police reasons to protect the mayor out on the go and the cherished laptop. I think this would fix all of the problems since the inception of the mayor having a PC, that keep the mayor away and detract heavily from roleplaying. Better still, this could add a new thing to be raided for on the game. It could also mean that insurgents controlling the laptop can change laws and such themselves, until the police manage to get it back.
  8. My title almost says it all, but I think the insurgents should be able to occupy the oil fields. When doing this they could take the profits, until the police show up and stop this. The police should probably in this case have some kind of NLR cooldown where they can once again try to take back the oil fields, much like the insurgents already have. Also, surely 5 minutes is far too short for this, the insurgents should only get to try this every hour. There would need to be something at the oil fields out front for the insurgents to press F8 and start a raid. They should also maybe just be able to destroy everything, but admittedly that could be extremely frustrating for the oil workers. I think this would have great RP value, and I'm sure are some bugs here but I think they could be fixed. Edit: whoops, can someone move this to DarkRP suggestions for me?
